The winning streak was cut short for the Detroit Tigers (43-33), losing to the Houston Astros (35-46) in extra innings, 4-3. The Astros were the first to score in the bottom of the 1st after a wild pitch from Justin Verlander allowed Jose Altuve to score. The wild pitch ended up as an error for Alex Avila. In the 2nd, Avila hit a line drive single to score J.D. Martinez. The Tigers would take the lead in the 4th with a single run homer off the bat of Nick Castellanos. Houston would take back the lead in the 5th after L.J. Hoes scored off of an Altuve double, and he would go on to steal home to take the lead. In the 8th, Miguel Cabrera reached first on a fielding error to score Eugenio Suarez. The game would go into extra innings, and in the 11th inning Jason Castro hit a home run to clench the win for the Astros.
