The Detroit Tigers fired pitching coach Chris Bosio (pictured) on Wednesday afternoon, for "insensitive comments" to a team employee, according to a press release.

Bosio was in his first season as the team's pitching coach.  He was the pitching coach for the Chicago Cubs from 2012-17, where he was a part of the Cubs World Series-winning squad in 2016.  He was a Major League pitcher for portions of 11 seasons in the 1980's and 90's.

Brad Galli of WXYZ-TV in Detroit reports that the "insensitive comment" was racial in nature.

Chris McCosky of the Detroit News reports via his Twitter account, that the team has named Rick Anderson as the team's new pitching coach:

The Tigers have lost seven straight games, they have fallen to 36-44 and in 3rd place in the American League Central.
