The Detroit Tigers used strong pitching and timely hitting to beat the Houston Astros 2-0 at Comerica Park Monday night for their sixth straight win. The game was scoreless until the 7th inning when Rajai Davis hit an RBI single scoring Nick Castellanos. In the next inning, Victor Martinez completed the scoring for Detroit (18-9) when he hit his 5th home run of the season. Max Scherzer (4-1) pitched eight shutout innings, striking out nine for the win and Joe Nathan pitched the ninth for his sixth save. Jarred Cosart (1-3) took the loss for Houston (10-21) despite giving up one run and striking out three. The two teams continue their four game series Tuesday afternoon in Detroit. Brett Oberholtzer (0-5) takes the hill for the Astros while Robbie Ray makes his Major League debut getting the start for the Tigers.
