The Detroit Tigers scored one run in the top of the first inning and made it stand up as they shutout the Boston Red Sox 1-0 in the opener of a three game series at Fenway Park Friday night. Torii Hunter hit an RBI single that scored Ian Kinsler and Max Scherzer (6-1) pitched six  shutout innings, striking out seven,  to earn the win and Joe Nathan pitched a perfect ninth inning to recoed his 11th save as Detroit (25-12) won their ninth straight road game. Jon Lester (4-5) pirched five innings also striking out seven in the loss for Boston (20-21). The two teams continue their series Satruday night. Rick Porcello (6-1) starts for Detroit while John Lackey (5-2) will pitch for Boston. Pregame coverage begins at 6:45pm on Lansing's Big Talker 1240 WJIM.
