These Photos Of Lansing’s Flooded River Trail Are Stunning
Flooding has imperiled much of the Lansing area in the wake of heavy rain and significant snow melt.
Late Wednesday, municipal officials in Lansing and Lansing Township declared states of emergencies and even urged some residents to evacuate their homes. The Letts Community Center on Kalamazoo Street is where residents will be able to take shelter if they evacuate their homes. Doors open at noon on Thursday.
Many roadways in the Lansing area are closed due to flooding, but the rivers haven't even crested yet. Local officials say that should happen either Thursday or Friday.
Some areas around the Red Cedar River on the Michigan State campus are under water. Much of the athletic complex--part of the Spartan Stadium parking complex and much of the soccer and baseball complex--is flooded.
