The Tigers took an incredible beating tonight from the hands of the Minnesota Twins, losing 20-6. The Tigers tried to show their fangs in the first after a single run homer off the bat of Ian Kinsler. But that didn't phase the Twins, who started their domination in the 2nd when Oswaldo Arcia hit a line drive double to score Kennys Vargas. Trevor Plouffe hit a sharp ground double, scoring Arcia. Eduardo Escobar and Danny Santana both hit single run homers to finish off the inning. The Tigers were down, but not out in the 5th starting with a sharp ground single hit by Victor Martinez, bringing home Torii Hunter. J.D. Martinez hit a line drive double, bringing in a run from Miguel Cabrera. A sharp ground ball off the bat of Nick Castellanos brought home Victor Martinez, and a sacrifice fly from Bryan Holaday brings home J.D. Martinez to bring the Tigers within one. The situation went grim very quickly in the 6th, starting with a ground single off the bat of Brian Dozier, scoring Escobar. A sharp ground single from Joe Mauer brings home Jordan Schafer and Danny Santana. Arcia made a base off of an Ian Kinsler error, scoring Dozier. Plouffe reached on a fielders choice, scoring Mauer and Vargas. Santana hits a ground single, bringing home Plouffe. Too add insult to injury, Al Alburquerque walked Mauer with the bases loaded, bringing in Schafer. The Twins weren't done yet, in the 7th, a ground single off the bat of Schafer brought in a run from Plouffe, and Dozier was walked with bases loaded for 2 more runs. In the 8th, Alex Avila forced a ground out, to bring home Ezequiel Carerra for a much needed run. In the 8th Arcia and Plouffe both hit homers off of Andrew Romine. The Tigers will have a chance for redemption with tomorrow's double header. First game starts at 12:40 with the second beginning at 6:40 PM Both on Lansing's Big Talker, 1240 AM, WJIM.
