I am 55 years old. I remember an NFL that was only about blood and guts and, of course, winning.

Then there were those great teams. The 1972 undefeated Miami Dolphins coached by the immortal Don Shula, and the "Steel Curtain" aka the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Oakland Raiders. But lets not overlook the Green Bay Packers, Dallas Cowboys and those Monsters of the Midway, the Chicago Bears, the Kansas City Chiefs, Baltimore Colts, the "Hogs" aka the Washington Skins.

There is just a rich nostalgiac history with these teams just to name a few. I love the old great teams and names in the olden days of the NFL. Like, Lombardi, Halas, Tom Landry, Chuck Noll, Hank Stram, Sid Gillman, Mike Ditka, Weeb Ewbank. These names are just a few that have been linked in history in paving the road to the current NFL. Let's not forget the architect of the entire NFL in it's current state, former commissioner Pete Rozell.

This is just a thumbnail sketch of some of the all-time greats in the history of the NFL names. Names like. Joe "Willie" Butkus, Starr, Unitas, Jimmy Brown, Sweetness, Montana, Elway, Griese, Csonka, and Sayers just to say a few. Today's NFL just is all about dollars, corporate dollars. These grease the wheel for today's NFL contracts.

Today's NFL is about great players but also domestic violence, concussions(a good thing) and many other outside the lines activities. I will always love the old NFL!
