22-year old rookie Akil Baddoo is off to one of the hottest starts by a Tigers rookie since Al Kaline. Here's a look at his big blast Monday in Houston.

Despite their drafting of some super hot prospects over the years, the Detroit Tigers haven't had a rookie break out like this since the 1950s.

A year ago, the Minnesota Twins gave up on Baddoo, and the Tigers claimed him in the Rule 5 draft. (Rule 5 means that after three minor league seasons, a team has to either sign a player to a Major league contract, or his name goes into a draft)

And the Tigers are glad they did. Baddoo has been nothing short of spectacular in the first two weeks of the season, hitting at a .368 clip with three homer runs and nine runs batted in.

Last night in Houston, Baddoo's 450 foot bomb of a home run helped another rookie, Casey Mize earn his first Major League victory as a pitcher in the Tigers 6-2 win over the Astros.
