The University of Tennessee-Knoxville has relieved athletic director John Currie of his duties on Friday morning.

Currie has spent recent weeks in search of a head football coach to replace the fired Butch Jones (former Central Michigan coach).  Tennessee finished 4-8 in 2017, and had former Michigan coach Brady Hoke finish the season as coach on an interim basis.

Coaches like North Carolina State's Dave Doeren, Oklahoma State's Mike Gundy, and Purdue's Joff Brohm have all turned down the Volunteers.
