On Sunday, Michigan State University women's basketball head coach Suzy Merchant fainted during the fourth quarter of last night's game according to the Lansing State Journal.

The Spartans opened up conference play with a 71-47 victory of Illinois and associate head coach Amaka Agugua coached the remainder of the game.

Agugua spoke to the media after the game and discussed the scene from her vantage point.

"First of all that was very scary," Agugua said. "She went down pretty hard. She fainted and was a little discombobulated when she got up. She was trying to figure out what happened. She’s doing well. She knows what happened at the end of the game. She was communicating very well. She’s going to be OK."

Michigan State released a statement regarding Merchant's health. It is unclear if she will coach or travel with team to West Lafayette to face the Purdue Boilermakers.

Update: Suzy Merchant has been released according to a press release from Michigan State.
