Big Stars Come to Lansing for Charity Softball Game
Have you already made your plans for this Friday night, September 30th? If you have, cancel them. If you haven't, make em for the Challenge for Charity Celebrity Softball Game at Jackson Field, home of the Lansing Lugnuts!
This event is no stranger to Lansing. The event, put on by the Lansing Lugnuts, benefits local non profit organizations. The Lugnuts are consistently giving back to their community. One of the things I liked most about being the on field emcee for the Lugnuts (2000-2005), was all of the community involvement and charitable nights.
One of my favorite nights to emcee was Lugnuts' Charitites night. The generosity from Lugnuts' fans and the organization blew my mind. So much so that during one season, Lugnuts' owner Tom Dickson asked if he could shave my head (he didn't like my platinum blonde hair). I asked, "how much are you donating?". Tom's response was "$500". I followed up with, "$1000 and you've got a deal". Tom and I ended up on top of the first base dugout, he proceeded to shave my head over the next few half innings, in between at bats. He was a novice with clippers. It didn't look good.
This year's game will feature some awesome celebrities like Terrell Owens, Theotis Beaseley, Lyrica Anderson, Willis McGahee, Trell Woodberry, Lamar Woodley and more. There will be some local celebrities playing in the game too. I am super stoked to be playing in the game this Friday. Celebrity? Nah, just a dude that wants to have some fun and talks on the radio. As far as the NFL guys coming to play, I have one question. Can you throw a softball? Sarcasm aside, this will be a great time.
Make your plans to come out for this amazing event. It's all happening at Jackson Field on Friday, September 30th. Gates open at 6p. There's a public meet & greeet from 6p-7p, the game starts at 7p and following the game, at 9pm, there will be a VIP meet & greet as well.
Let's have some fun and do some good for mid Michigan, together.
