The Michigan State Spartan Hockey team scored four goals in the second period, three on the power play, to secure a win over the Clarkson University Golden Knights 6-4 Sunday afternoon at Munn Ice Arena. MSU (6-9-1) tied the game at 2 when Matt Deblouw scored at the 7:59 mark of the second period, only to fall behind again a little more than four minutes later when the Golden Knights Pat Megannety scored his second goal of the game. Meganety opened the scoring at the 10:06 mark of the first. That is when the Spartan offense exploded for three power play goals in a span of 3:13 as Joe Cox scored twice and then Thomas Ebbing scored his first of the year to give MSU the lead for good. Mike Ferrantino scored the Spartans first goal knotting the game at 1-1 with three minutes left in the first period. Clarkson (6-8-4) got back within a goal on a Todd Christian score but then Ryan Keller iced the win with the game's final score with 5:31 left. Jake Hildebrand stopped 20 of 24 shots while Ville Runnola and Greg Lewis split the net minding duties for the Golden Knights combining for 25 saves. Michigan State is now off until December 28 with they will face Ferris State at the Great Lakes Invitational at Joe Louis Arena. Pregame begins at 6:30pm on Lansing's Big Talker 1240 WJIM.
