The Michigan State Men's Basketball team opened their Big 10 schedule with a 68-66 double overtime loss to the Maryland Terrapins at Breslin Center Tuesday night in their last game of 2014. The Terrapins' Dez Wells hit a three pointer with five seconds to go to send the game into overtime after Travis Trice had given the Spartans a two point lead with two free throws with 36 seconds left. Wells then hit two free throws of his own to bring about the second extra period. Trice led Michigan State (9-5, 0-1 Big 10) in scoring with a career high 23 points. Melo Trimble led Maryland (13-1, 1-0) with 17 points. The next game for Michigan State will be next Monday when the Indiana Hoosiers visit Breslin Center.
