The Michigan State Spartan Hockey team ended a 216 minute scoring drought and a five game losing streak to Ferris State by beating the Bulldogs 4-1 Saturday night at Munn Ice Arena. Michigan State (2-4-0) broke a scoreless tie with a flurry as they scored two goals in 1:30 when Travis Walsh then Mackinzie MacEachern found the back of the net. Villiam Haag added a second period goal and Matt Berry capped the night's scoring with a power play goal, Michigan State's second of the year, in the third. Ferris State (3-4) avoided the shutout when Justin Buzzeo scored midway through the third period. Jake Hildebrand made 19 saves in goal for the Spartans while C.J. Motte stopped 31 shots for the Bulldogs. Michigan State next takes the ice on Friday night as they travel to New Hampshire to face off against the Wildcats.
