Media sources are reporting that the New York Yankees will not retain manager Joe Girardi (pictured) for the 2018 season.

The Yanks lost in the American League Championship series to the Houston Astros in seven games just last week.  Girardi managed the team to the 2009 World Series championship when they beat the Philadelphia Phillies in six games.

Girardi, a Northwestern alum, did not have a contract for the 2018 season.  He managed the team to six playoff appearances in his 10 years at the helm.
