Ah, the euphoria and agony of sports!

This little fellow was enjoying his beloved Detroit Tigers and their 3-1 lead over the Oakland Athletics in the seventh inning at Comerica Park last night. Then the A's Ben Zobrist stepped up to the plate with the bases loaded and cranked a bullet of a line drive off the Tigers' Angel Nesbitt just over the right field wall.

Our young Tigers fan corralled the grand slam ball with a web gem suitable for Baseball Tonight's highlights.

Then reality set in.

You can see his boyish enthusiasm quickly vanish as the realization of his beloved Motor City Kitties' collapse materialized.

The little guy is obviously crushed, and it's hearbreaking to see.

But shouldn't he have thrown the ball back?

The boy is obviously a hardened baseball fan, the kind many males are in their adolescences. So he obviously knows the ancient decorum that governs the game, specifically that you promptly return a home run ball from the visiting team to the diamond.

Then again, he's a little boy and it's probably the first (and only) home run ball he's ever caught at an MLB game.

What should he have done?
