The Detroit Tigers extended their lead in the AL Central division with a 2-1 win over the Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Stadium Friday night. Detroit (52-37) now sits 6.5 games in front thanks to a strong start by Anibal Sanchez who won for the sixth time (6-3) scattering eight hits over seven innings, strkiing out 3, . Ian Kinsler and Miguel Cabrera had RBI for the Tigers while Austin Jackson went 3 for 4 and Joe Nathan earned his 10th save.. Kansas City (47-45) tied the game in the first with an RBI single from S. Perez but that was the extent of the Royals offense. Danny Duffy (5-9) took the loss. The two teams continue their series Saturday night as Rick Porcello (11-5) will take the mound for Detroit and James Shields (9-4) takes the hill for the Royals.
