The Chicago White Sox beat the Detroit Tigers 6-3 in the first game of a double header at U.S. Cellular Field Saturday afternoon. Detroit (73-61) took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning on two home runs, a solo shot from Ian Kinsler and a two run homer from Victor Martinez. Chicago (61-74) tied the game in the third and then took the lead later that inning on the strength of Adam Dunn's two run blast to give the White Sox a 5-3 lead. Tyler Flowers then capped the scoring in the fourth. Max Scherzer (15-5) lost his bid to become the American League's first 16 game winner giving up six runs in 6 2/3 innings despite striking out 11. Chris Sale (11-3) got the win going seven innings, just giving up the three early runs and striking out 13 and Jake Petricka pitched the ninth for his 10th save. The two teams will play the nightcap of their double header Saturday evening with two pitchers making their season debuts. Kyle Ryan will make his major league debut pitching for Detroit while Chris Bassitt makes his season first start of the year for Chicago.
