Ileana Lochte confirmed to USA Today Sports that the pair were robbed but unharmed.

IOC spokesman Mark Adams has refuted the claim calling it "absolutely not true".

The incident happened Sunday morning when Lochte and another unnamed teammate were going to a visit a Brazilian swimmer Thiago Pereira. Their cab stopped for gas and men with guns and knives confronted them.

Lochte had been finished with his program since Thursday, and the swimming portion of the Olympics ended on Saturday.
