Roger Federer is one step closer to a record eighth Wimbledon men's singles championship after coming back from two sets to love down and defeat Croatia's Marin Cilic 6-7(4), 4-6, 6-3, 7-6(9), 6-3 in the Wimbledon quarterfinals on Wednesday.

With the win he ties Jimmy Connors' record for Wimbledon match wins by a male in the Open era with his 84th conquest.  And he also breaks Martina Navratilova's all-time record of 306 Grand Slam match victories with his triumph.

Federer will play Canada's Milos Raonic in the semifinals on Friday.
