Report: Urban Meyer To Step Down
According to a Yahoo Sports report, Urban Meyer, the seven year coach at Ohio State will step down from his position at a news conference this afternoon in Columbus.
Meyer is expected to coach the Big Ten champion Buckeyes in the Rose Bowl on New Year's Day against Washington. Assistant Ryan Day is expected to take over for Meyer after the Rose Bowl. Day coached the first three games of this season while Meyer served a suspension due to the Zach Smith controversy.
Meyer has had successful stints wherever he's been. Bowling Green, Utah, Florida, and now Ohio State. He won two national titles at Florida (2006, 2008) and won a third championship in Columbus in 2014.
He has also had health problems in his career, which forced his departure at Florida. And it apparently is doing the same with the Buckeyes. He has a congenital cyst in his brain that Meyer admits bothered him throughout the 2018 season. He is 82-9 in seven seasons at Ohio State.
