Hockey Hall of Famer Steve Yzerman (pictured) has left his post as the general manager of the Tampa Bay Lightning, according to Joe Smith of The Athletic on Tuesday.

Smith's initial tweet:

Yzerman has been the GM of the Lightning since 2010, after leading Canada to an Olympic gold medal in the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.  The Lightning made the Stanley Cup Finals in 2015, where they lost to the Chicago Blackhawks.

BriseBois is assistant GM Julien BriseBois.  An official announcement is expected sometime Tuesday afternoon, according to SportsNet.

Yzerman is one of the greatest players in the history of the Detroit Red Wings, playing with the team from 1983-2006.  His number 19 was retired shortly after his retirement.
