Report: Spurs Trade Leonard To Raptors
ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting on Wednesday morning that the San Antonio Spurs have sent disgruntled All-Star forward Kawhi Leonard (pictured) to the Toronto Raptors as part of a bigger trade package.
The ESPN report says that the Spurs will also send forward Danny Green to Toronto. The Spurs will receive All-Star guard DeMar DeRozan, Jakob Poeltl, and a protected first round draft choice in 2019.
Leonard had demanded a trade from San Antonio, where he won an NBA title in 2014 as well as a NBA Finals Most Valuable Player award, to the Los Angeles Lakers for the last month or so. He missed most of last season because of a quadriceps injury in his leg.
He has two years left on his contract, but he can opt out and become an unrestricted free agent after next season.
