Report: Red Wings Agree To Deal With Helm
The NHL Network's Aaron Ward is first to report that the Detroit Red Wings have agreed to a new deal with forward Darren Helm. Helm would have been an unrestricted free agent at 12 noon on Friday.
Helm will get a five-year deal worth just shy of $20 million. His salary cap hit will be $3.85 million for the next five years.
The speedy winger had 13 goals and 13 assists in the 2015-16 season. He's now a Red Wing through 2021.
