ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting on Tuesday that the Detroit Pistons are opening a search for a new general manager to work along with senior executive Ed Stefanski in player personnel matters.  ESPN says the Pistons will start interviewing candidates this week.

The Pistons have struggled in recent years, they have not won a playoff game since Game 4 of the 2008 Eastern Conference Finals (lost to the Boston Celtics in six games).  And have only made the playoffs three times since then.

Detroit was 20-46 this season when the coronavirus pandemic began in March.   The team battled injuries all season long, and traded former All-Star center Andre Drummond to the Cleveland Cavaliers just before the pandemic started.
