Report: Pistons C Baynes Opts Out, Becomes Free Agent
The Vertical is reporting that Detroit Pistons backup center Aron Baynes will opt out of the final year of his contract and become an unrestricted free agent on July 1st.
Baynes signed a two-year deal with player option for a third year back in 2015. He's been the main backup to starting center Andre Drummond the last two seasons. Baynes was slated to make $6.5 million for the 2017-18 season.
He's also been a mainstay for his native Australia in the Olympics. He was on the squad that finished fourth in the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
