ESPN.com is reporting that the Los Angles Lakers will not hire a replacement for Lansing's own Earvin "Magic" Johnson (pictured) in the front office of the storied NBA franchise.

Johnson left his post as team president of basketball operations back in April at the end of the regular season.

Rob Pelinka (former Michigan basketball player and Kobe Bryant's former agent) will stay on as the team General Manager and will report directly with team owner and president Janie Buss.

The Lakers struggled in the 2018-19 season, missing the playoffs despite the acquisition of LeBron James last offseason.  They were 37-45 and finished 11 games out of the eighth and final playoff berth in the Western Conference.
