Report: FSD Tabs Shepard To Call Tigers Games
The Detroit Free Press reported on Monday night that Fox Sports Detroit has picked Matt Shepard to become FSD's play-by-play voice for the Detroit Tigers starting with this upcoming season.
An official announcement could come as soon as Tuesday. Shepard will join former Tigers Jack Morris and Kirk Gibson in the booth. The three will replace Mario Impemba and Rod Allen, who were suspended and later fired for a postgame incident this past September.
Shepard has a busy schedule. He hosts his own morning sportstalk show in Detroit. He is also the radio play-by-play voice for Eastern Michigan football and for University of Michigan basketball. It is unclear as whether Shepard will have to give up either or both of those jobs so he can broadcast Tigers games.
