The NHL Network's Aaron Ward was first to report that Detroit Red Wings forward Pavel Datsyuk and his agent will meet with Red Wings General Manager Ken Holland on Friday night to discuss his future.

It is at that meeting where it is expected that Datsyuk will let Holland know that he will leave the Red Wings to go back home to Russia.  A Saturday press conference is expected to make it official.

Datsyuk has one year left on his contract with Detroit, and has been with the team since 2001.  But he has stated his desire to go back home to Russia to be near his family.
