Remember O-E RB Chris Robinson? He’s Coaching Now
Former Ovid-Elsie star running back Chris Robinson, who starred for the Marauders from 2006-2009, is back at his alma mater as an assistant coach under head coach Travis Long.
Robinson, who later played at Grand Valley State, scored 99 career touchdowns in his four-year career in a Marauder uniform. That's good for a tie for seventh on the all-time career rushing touchdown list. His career rushing total of 7,123 yards is sixth all-time.
His junior season, 2008, is one of the best in state history. Chris rushed for 2,844 yards and 41 touchdowns on 256 carries while leading the Marauders to the Division 5 state title game, where they lost to Muskegon Oakridge at Ford Field 26-14 (boxscore from that game here).
His senior season, 2009, was almost as good. He rushed for 2,696 yards and 40 touchdowns on 304 carries. But O-E was knocked out in the Division 5 regional finals by Millington 22-21.
Who's better than CRob to train the next great running back at Ovid-Elsie?
