On Wednesday, Detroit Red Wings General Manager Ken Holland added another piece to his free agent class of 2015, bringing in left winger Eric Tangradi on a one-year contract.

This signing makes three unrestricted free agent signings from other NHL clubs, joining Mike Green and Brad Richards who were signed July 1

Tangradi, 26, is a big power forward (6-4, 221 LB) who offers size to a Red Wings roster that currently only has two players at 6'4" (Johan Franzen and Jonathan Ericsson). He plays a more defensive grinding game, as he has only five goals in 143 games across seven NHL seasons.

While the Red Wings do need size, it will be interesting to see if Tangradi gets a sniff at the big club. He only played in seven NHL games last season with the Montreal Canadiens, spending most of the season in Hamilton, Montreal's AHL affiliate last year.

With many forwards set to take jumps and the likes of top prospects Dylan Larkin and Anthony Mantha on the fringe of cracking the NHL team, Tangradi certainly joins what will sure to be a competitive training camp for roster spots in 2015-16.
