The Detroit Red Wings have brought back one of their valued restricted free agent forwards, Andreas Athanasiou (pictured), on Thursday afternoon.

MLive's Ansar Khan was first to report the new deal, he reports that it's a two-year deal worth $6 million total.  Athanasiou will have a $3 million cap hit for the next two seasons.

This now leaves Dylan Larkin and Anthony Mantha as the other restricted free agent forwards yet to be signed.  The team now has 21 skaters under contract for the 2018-19 season, with just under $6 million under the salary cap to sign Larkin and Mantha.

Athanasiou scored 16 goals last season for the Wings.  He sat out the early portion of the year due to a contract dispute with the Wings.
