The Detroit Red Wings picked up an overtime victory at Joe Louis Arena Wednesday night, 2-1 over the New York Rangers. Red Wing newcomer Marek Zidlicky wasted no time in making his name known in Hockeytown, netting the game winning goal 1:09 into the overtime period. Justin Abdelkader scored the other Detroit goal 6:12 into the first period. Henrik Zetterberg made his return known, picking up two points on two assists. Jimmy Howard fended off 39 of 40 Rangers shots on the night. Dan Girardi scored the only goal for New York. Detroit is back in action Friday night hosting the Calgary Flames.
