Red Wings Fans…Do You Like The New Acquisitions?
Free agency in the National Hockey League is a few days old. And the Detroit Red Wings have been active in trying to acquire more and better talent to get the team into the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the first time since 2017.
First, the team did lose several players off of last year's squad due to free agency. Forward David Perron signed with the Ottawa Senators for two years, $8 million. They also lost defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere to the Carolina Hurricanes on a three-year deal worth $9.6 million. And goalie James Reimer left the Motor City for a one-year deal worth $1 million with the Buffalo Sabres. And the team is also expected to lose forward Daniel Sprong in free agency, but as of now, he is unsigned.
As of this writing (July 3rd), the Red Wings have signed six players to free agent contracts, in addition to the re-signing of Patrick Kane (pictured above). Here's a look at each of them. All contract numbers are courtesy of capfriendly.com:

The Red Wings still have a few key signings to make this summer. Restricted free agents Lucas Raymond and Moritz Seider are absolute musts to bring back. Joe Veleno is not as much a priority, but has shown promise in his time in Detroit.
