Thursday night's scheduled game between the Detroit Red Wings and the Anaheim Ducks was postponed during the afternoon after it was revealed that Anaheim had multiple COVID-19 cases on their team.

The National Hockey League (NHL) announced later Thursday that the game would be rescheduled for Sunday, January 9th at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.  Face-off time yet to be determined.

However, on Thursday night, the Detroit Red Wings reported on their website that the game would be an 8:00 eastern time start out west.  Instead of being the opener to a West Coast road trip, it will be game 2 of the Western swing.  With Saturday night's game at the Los Angeles Kings being the opener.

This is the sixth postponement that the Wings have endured so far this season.  Four games in December were postponed due to COVID-19 issues on the Wings as well as the league-wide shutdown before Christmas.

Earlier this week, their scheduled road game at the Philadelphia Flyers on January 18th was postponed.  That game has yet to be rescheduled by the NHL.

The Red Wings are currently 16-15-3 on the season, or 35 points.  They are one point behind the Boston Bruins for the second and final wild card playoff spot in the NHL's Eastern Conference.  They blew out the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday night 6-2 at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit.

The three-game West Coast road swing will conclude on January 11th at the San Jose Sharks.  They'll head to the West Coast again later in March for a four-game trip to Edmonton, Vancouver, Calgary, and Seattle.

You Think This Year's Team Is Bad? These Past Detroit Lions Teams Didn't Do Too Hot Either

Ah, our good old Lions. Most Michiganders know only the love-hate relationship that we share with the team. I mean, how could you not love the hapless Lions? They're our home team. With that being said though, they've had a win-less season before, which stings. Check out some not-so-good past years for the Detroit Lions.
