
Prep Basketball Weekly Post-Season Awards
Here's the list of season-long award winners for Lansing-area high school basketball, according to Brock Palmbos and Erik "Doc" Love from Prep Basketball Weekly.
GIRLS B-BALL UPSET OF THE YEAR
Fowlerville knocking off Williamston 48-33 to win the Class B district title on March 1st at Haslett HS.
GIRLS B-BALL PERFORMANCE OF THE YEAR
East Lansing hitting state record-tying 23 3-point baskets against Sexton on February 14th.
GIRLS B-BALL GAME OF THE YEAR
East Lansing over DeWitt 52-51 on December 5th. Aazhenii Nye's basket in the final seconds gave the Lady Trojans a thrilling victory.
GIRLS B-BALL COACH OF THE YEAR
(Tie) - Rob Smith-East Lansing, Steve Eklund-Pewamo-Westphalia. Both coaches led their teams to undefeated regular seasons. Both won district and regional titles. And both went to the state semifinals. East Lansing made it to the Class A title game.
GIRLS B-BALL PLAYER OF THE YEAR #SHEHADAGOODYEAR
Aaliyah Nye - East Lansing. Sensational sophomore led the lady Trojans to a 26-1 season and a Class A runner-up finish.
BOYS B-BALL UPSET OF THE YEAR
Grand Ledge defeating East Lansing 59-53 on January 9th to end E.L.'s 46 game regular season winning streak.
BOYS B-BALL PERFORMANCE OF THE YEAR
Brandon Johns - East Lansing: Scored 51 points and pulled down 15 rebounds in their 114-82 win over Sexton on December 19th.
BOYS B-BALL GAME OF THE YEAR
East Lansing over Grand Ledge 74-67 in overtime on February 13th. The Trojans rallied from 10 points down in the final minutes to force OT. Then won the game in the extra period.
BOYS B-BALL COACH OF THE YEAR
Dan Blemaster - Laingsburg: Led the Wolfpack to a surprise CMAC title (Won it by four games). 16-4 record despite not having a player over 6-3 on the roster.
BOYS B-BALL PLAYER OF THE YEAR #HEHADAGOODYEAR
Brandon Johns - East Lansing: Mr. Basketball runner-up. 1,810 career points, 910 career rebounds. Averaged 26 points a game in his senior season.
