WILX's Fred Heumann and Tim Staudt, as well as myself, have confirmed that Portland High School's football team has forfeited their Division 5 district championship game to Grand Rapids Catholic Central due to multiple COVID-19 cases on their team.

Portland coach John Novara confirmed the report to me earlier this morning.  The Raiders end their season at 7-2 with a CAAC White championship and seven straight wins before the 1-0 forfeit to GRCC.

Portland defeated Grand Rapids West Catholic last Friday night 28-21 to advance to the district title game.  Portland won the Division 5 state title in 2012.
