The Detroit Pistons have signed Ray McCallum to a one-year league-minimum deal according to Sheridan Hoops.

The former Detroit Mercy star will likely compete with Lorenzo Brown for the third point guard spot. During his 154 NBA appearances, he averaged 6.0 points, 2.4 assists and 18.2 minutes a game.

He was coached by his father Ray Sr. at UDM and after three years with UDM, McCallum declared for the 2013 NBA draft and was selected 36th overall by the Sacramento Kings. Current pistons coach Stan Van Gundy and Ray Sr. were assistants at Wisconsin in the 1990s.

In 2015, his rights were traded to the San Antonio Spurs for a 2nd round pick but was later waived mid-season. He signed multiple 10-day contracts with Memphis Grizzlies towards the end of last season.
