Parade Of MHSAA Team Champions From The Lansing Area
The 2021-22 high school athletic year is now complete in the state of Michigan with the completion of the baseball, softball, and girls soccer finals this past weekend at Michigan State University in East Lansing.
All told, we had eight area teams win state championships in the 21-22 school year. And many other schools ended up runner-up.
It was an exciting fall season as we had a pair of (almost three) area teams win state titles in football. We had an area team win a crown in boys soccer. We also a couple of near-misses in boys cross-country and one in girls cross-country. There were also a couple of high finishes in girls golf. An another team had a near-miss at the boys tennis finals.
In the winter, we had a prominent boys and girls basketball team win state titles at the Breslin Center in March. We also had a runner-up finish in girls bowling and gymnastics.
In the spring, we had a girls soccer champion, a boys golf champion, and a boys track and field champion. We also had a semifinalist in baseball, as well as a semifinalist in girls lacrosse. And finally a runner-up finish in girls track and field.
