The Pewamo-Westphalia Lady Pirates saw their undefeated season come to an end on Thursday afternoon with a 50-39 loss at the hands of defending state champion Detroit Edison PSA in the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) Class C Semifinals at Calvin College's Van Noord Arena.

P-W, who never led in the contest, was led in scoring by Emily Spitzley, who accumulated 14 points in the game.  Ellie Droste added 11 for coach Steve Eklund's squad.  Rickea Jackson led the Pioneers with 25 points.  Damiya Hagemann added 13 points and three assists.

This was a rematch of last year's Class C state title game, which Edison won 46-44 at the Breslin Center in East Lansing.

With the win, the lady Pioneers move on to Saturday's Class C championship tilt against the winner between defending Class B champ Ypsilanti Arbor Prep and Maple City Glen Lake, who play in the other C semifinal.

The Lady Pirates season ends at 25-1, but the team won the outright CMAC championship as well as Class C district and regional championships this year.
