Okemos stays tied for 1st in CAAC Blue with win
Coming into Tuesday night's basketball match-ups, there was a 4-way tie for first in the CAAC Blue division. Those teams were: Grand Ledge (who knocked off Sexton); East Lansing (who survived OT vs Eastern); and Okemos & Everett. The Chiefs and Vikings were facing each other. Someone was going to fall into second place. Noah Pruitt wasn't going to let Okemos be that team. In defensive-minded (and a little sloppy at times) battle, the Chiefs defeated the Vikings 51-30 Tuesday evening. Things started off pretty slowly, with Okemos holding Everett without a field goal in the 1st quarter, and the Chiefs leading 8-2. It was a football score at the half, as Okemos lead 24-7 (and only allowing one FG in the first 16 minutes). Things sped-up in the 3rd & 4th quarters, but it was Noah Pruitt and Okemos' night. The diminutive sophomore guard was doing it all, finishing with a game-high 15 pts, dropping 7 dimes and reeling in 6 boards. And dribbling out of the always intense Everett pressure. Evan Thomas chipped in 11 pts & 9 rebounds for the Chiefs. After scoring 92, 85 and 84 in their last 3 games, Everett was held in check, scoring their lowest output of the season to this date. The Vikings were led by Dominique Davidson's 7 pts & 11 reb, with Allen English adding 7 pts as well.
