Nine Area Teams Make AP H.S. Football Rankings

Unbeatens DeWitt, Portland, P-W, and Morrice highlight nine area high school football teams ranked in the Michigan H.S. Football Associated Press rankings, out this week.

Ten area teams have automatically qualified for playoff berths by accumulating the necessary six wins in the regular season.  Five others can get in automatically if they are victorious this weekend.

The Michigan high school playoffs begin the weekend of October 19th-20th with district semifinal games (regional semis for 8-Man teams).  The following weekend has district finals games along with regional final games in 8-Man football.

The 11-man finals are at Ford Field in Detroit on Thanksgiving weekend, with the two 8-Man championship games the weekend before that in Marquette's Superior Dome.
