Nick Ward had himself a heck of a week and because if it, he was named the Big Ten player of the week for the final week of 2017.

Ward played two games for the week of December 25-January 1, averaging 21.5 points and 12.5 rebounds in wins over Cleveland State and Savannah State. Ward shot an absurd 94.1% from the field in that stretch (16-17 overall).

Miles Bridges had won the previous week's Big Ten player of the week, making this back-to-back Spartans to take the honor.

Michigan State won both games that week with 100+ point efforts and an average margin of victory of 53 points.

The Spartans restart Big Ten play with a home game against Maryland on Thursday. Michigan State heads into the game on a 13 game winning streak and a perfect 2-0 record so far in Big Ten play.
