Are you ready for some football? Even Lions football? At this point after being locked down due to Covid-19 and having to deal with replays of games and documentaries (Michael Jordan and The Last Dance anyone?), we are absolutely looking forward to fall sports. Especially football. EVEN LIONS FOOTBALL. They held the draft. We got our 2020 Season Schedule. Is it going to happen? What's that gonna look like?

The only guy I really trust when talking about Covid-19 stuff is Dr. Anthony Fauci. And he laid out a few updated ideas about how we could have a 2020 NFL season. But it's going to depend on several things. How far along we are when August & September get here, testing, testing, testing players, and stadium/arena configurations.

“I think it’s feasible that negative testing players could play to an empty stadium,” Fauci said.

Also, if the virus is so low that even in the general community the risk is low, then I could see filling a third of the stadium or half the stadium so people could be six feet apart.

I would hope that by the time you get to September it’s not gonna be the way it is right now.” (NBC Sports)

First off, I'm down with watching just the players in the arena play. It'll be a little weird at first but IT WILL BE PRO SPORTS ON TV. And you can say goodbye to the home field advantage. You take the crowd out by literally taking the crowd out of the game. And like watching UFC this past weekend, you hear every smack, tackle, and all the trash talk. It's gonna change the game for them as much as us.

Second, if we're good boys and girls and keep working to flatten the curve like the doctor suggested, he could see us returning to the stadiums in a limited capacity. A third or half full with six feet separation. That'll make lines to the bathroom, concessions, and parking super easy. But how much are tickets gonna cost? How does that work out for season ticket holders? I really want to go to a game but as long as it's on TV I'm good.

And are we still tailgating at Eastern Market before the game at Ford Field? Inquiring minds want to know.

Oh and they would have to look at that blackout rule for games on TV too. No way could they do that with a partially full stadium configuration.

Also watching drunk fans in the stands drink beer through their face masks will be a joy to behold.

But all this rides on how well we do between now and September. I'm praying we keep going the way we are and flatten this bad boy some more. However, seeing how folks are acting about the face masks and we're still telling people how to wear them and wash their hands, I am a little concerned.
