The COVID-19 virus has ripped apart the sports world and cancelations are the norm and games have been put on hold.

The NCAA was affected as much as anybody with the cancellation of the NCAA Tournaments for winter sports and the cancellation of spring sports.

There is some good and bad news for those affected as the NCAA made a ruling on eligibility for affected athletes on Monday.

The bad news is that those athletes who saw their NCAA Tournaments cancelled will not receive an extra year of eligibility while those who participate in spring sports will be granted another year.

The waiver applies to the following spring sports: golf, rowing, outdoor track and field, baseball, softball, tennis, lacrosse, men's volleyball, beach volleyball and women's water polo.

This additional eligibility applies to all athletes affected and not just connected to seniors.

To accommodate the additional scholarships and roster space, the NCAA will allow expansion to fit those needs.

The decision was important and timely considering the decisions that needed to be made by those athletes in limbo.
