The NCAA has placed Notre Dame on academic probation after one of their athletic trainers was involved in an academic scandal during the 2012 and 2013 seasons according to WNDU.

The athletic trainer is no longer with Notre Dame after she committed academic misconduct for two football players and gave six other players impermissible academic extra benefits.

Notre Dame suspended Everett Golson the entire 2013 season for academic fraud. The Fighting Irish suspended DaVaris Daniels and Kendall Moore the following season for undisclosed academic violation.

In addition to probation, Notre Dame will vacate every win from the 2012 and 2013 seasons  In 2013, Notre Dame reached the BCS National Championship game against Alabama. The university will also pay a $5,000 fine.

Brian Kelly is 4-7 in 2016 and will most likely miss a bowl game for the first time since 2005.
