In a story reported late Monday night, Michigan State junior guard Foster Loyer (pictured) has entered the transfer portal.

Loyer is the fourth Michigan State player to enter the portal.  Junior guard Jack Hoiberg is headed to Texas-Arlington, Junior forward Thomas Kithier is going to Valparaiso, and sophomore guard Mark "Rocket" Watts is in the portal (but he hasn't committed to another school yet).

Loyer was Michigan's Mr. Basketball in 2018 after leading Clarkston HS to two straight Class A state titles in 2017 & 2018.  He beat out East Lansing HS (and future Michigan player) Brandon Johns, Jr. for the award.

He has been a backup at Michigan State for most of his career.  And he missed the end of his junior season due to a shoulder injury (for which he has had surgery for).

This leaves A.J. Hoggard, Stephen Izzo, and Davis Smith as the lone returning guards for the Spartans next season.  Although, they have Northeastern University transfer Tyson Walker coming in for next season.  As well as highly touted freshman Jaden Akins.
