Michigan State junior defensive back Justin Layne (pictured, No. 2) will skip the upcoming Redbox Bowl in Santa Clara, California and focus his energy on preparing for the upcoming NFL Draft.  This according to spartanmag.com on Wednesday afternoon.

Layne declared for the Draft officially this past weekend.  He accumulated 72 tackles for the Spartans this season, fifth-highest on the team.  He also had one interception and 15 pass break-ups on the season.

Layne also played some wide receiver in the 2018 season.  But he only caught one pass for 11 yards.

The 7-5 Spartans play Oregon in the Redbox Bowl on New Year's Eve.
