Michigan State Athletics has created the Mylan Hicks Memorial Football Scholarship in honor of the late Mylan Hicks who died last Sunday.

“Mylan was the kind of guy who always had a gleam in his eye and he always brought something good out in you as a person,” said MSU head football coach Mark Dantonio said in a statement.

Hicks was a defensive back for the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League
“The entire Spartan family is deeply saddened by the loss of Mylan Hicks. The establishment of this endowed scholarship by his friends is an on-going reminder of a special person, great teammate and true Spartan,” said MSU Director of Athletics Mark Hollis.
Hicks graduated from the MSU with a bachelor’s degree in psychology, was a member of the 2013 Big Ten Championship, 2014 Rose Bowl Championship and 2015 Cotton Bowl Championship teams. He was a graduate of Detroit’s Renaissance High School.
