MSU 12th; U-M 14th in first CFB Coaches Poll
Defending national champion Alabama is ranked number one in the nation in college football in the first Amway Coaches Poll, released on Thursday afternoon.
The Crimson Tide are followed by Clemson, Ohio State, Georgia, and Oklahoma in the top five.
Of local interest, Michigan State, coming off a 10-3 campaign, is rated 12th while Michigan, who was 8-5 last season, is ranked 14th.
Other Big Ten teams ranked are Wisconsin (7th), and Penn State (9th). Notre Dame is ranked 11th.
Other notable teams in the rankings are last year's lone unbeaten team Central Florida (23rd), PAC-12 champion Southern California (15th), and Oklahoma State (25th).
